Our ‘Making a Difference’ curriculum is designed specifically for the children of Silfield Oak – giving them what they need to strive and achieve their best and shine. Our values of belonging, kindness, curiosity and shine are threaded through the curriculum.
This is influenced by the principles and values of the Swedish curriculum, equipping our children with life skills and a love of the outdoors. We embrace the Danish Hygge approach to living well, focusing on being in the moment and embracing feelings of warmth, simplicity and togetherness.
Our curriculum is called ‘Making a Difference’ as all of our learning is guiding our children to grow and develop into wonderful and thoughtful citizens who make a difference to their community and society, locally and globally, and take social action whilst taking ownership of their own actions.
Our curriculum aims to support our children by:
- Increasing the exposure the children have towards high level VOCABULARY and give opportunities to practise using these words to improve oracy.
- A curriculum that improves KNOWLEDGE of the world through curiosity, building upon what the children know to create new links and connections.
- Promote positive RELATIONSHIPS that the children have with each other and their community, building skills and abilities to work together, feel a sense of belonging and treat everyone with kindness. .
