At Silfield Oak Primary Academy, we believe that Design and Technology should be an inspiring, rigorous and practical. Children have an opportunity to design and make products that may solve real-world problems.  

Within the CUSP Design Technology curriculum, children will learn key skills which draw on other disciplines such as mathematics, science, engineering, computing and art. Children will evaluate their own design which will help in their critical analysis of its impact on society.

We believe that high quality design and technology contributes to the creativity and innovative thinking needed for contributing to the wider society.

In EYFS children have increasing opportunities to design, create and craft. Applying the knowledge, skills and vocabulary that they have learnt. Knowledge notes support children in retrieval of key steps for applying these. We strongly believe in children taking controlled risks as part of their learning.

In Nature school, children have ample opportunities to learn new and practice acquired skills in different contexts outdoors.
